I am an experienced and enthusiastic STEAM educator for all ages and grade levels who currently works with a population of students with language-based learning differences. Most of my career has been spent in the arena of special education K-12 spanning gifted students, LD/EBD, and reading students, as well as, both an elementary and middle school classroom teacher. My journey began in the hopes of finding a better way to support our son with autism. Throughout this educational journey creating and developing coding and robotics and STEAM programs in school districts was a deep passion. Once it was discovered how this area of education could reach all students and bring them success, enthusiasm for learning and confidence, this was strongly encouraged to all teachers. I am passionate about educating teachers on how to bring the joys of STEAM to all core curriculum classes and families on how they can expose their child to the areas of STEAM. Over the past decade, I have enjoyed bringing high quality, empathy enriched, inquiry-based learning units to core classes in conjunction with STEAM curriculum. Encouraging students’ interest in these areas through hands-on learning and developing passion for outreach projects that have spanned the globe in collaborative ventures is all part of the program presented to students. My belief is strong that all young people should be prepared to think deeply, with inquiry and be stimulated so that they have the chance to become the leaders, innovators, educators, scientists, and researchers, needed for the challenges facing our nation and our world, both today and our future world.
